Um The Outwits made it? I didnt participate in 48 hours but wow Peter Jackson must have been really sleep deprived on the set of The Hobbit or something because there is no way in hell this deserves to be here.
Just bein honest! :)

OK, now all the great films that didn't make the final - please stand up and be counted in the Screening Room. I am surprised by how little Wellington is represented here given there were so many original and well-executed films in that final, and would love to see some of them again. Congratulations to those who made the Big Show, see y'all next year.

Awesome result for Suspect TV and The Outwits! Make CHCH proud!
Sooo...if someone won say Best Actor, there is still the potential of that nomination natioanally?

That's how it usually works.

You're entitled to your opinion, but Peter Jackson and I disagree (ahem. Pretty amazed I can actually say that). They told a great story this year, and I for one am stoked to see them make it through.

Go Outwits (first South Island wildcard ever, I believe?) and SuspectTV! Looking forward to seeing some of these other films.
Out of interest, who was the finalist judging panel?

Wow, we got wildcard... that's amazing!! Thanks PJ!
A huge congrats to the rest of the finalists/wildcards... it's gonna be a rad night. Stoked to be alongside so many friends. I'm sure the judges had a tough time picking a line-up, from what we've seen and other films we've heard about the bar was super high this year.
Colour us stoked!

Interesting to see the spit, seems judging has changed from previous years, expected to see 2-4 representative films from each city...
Congrats to those who made it though!

In previous years each City Winner automatically got through to the finals. This year it's just the top 10 films + wildcards.

still getting my head around this new prize pool system... it's a bit like just having 10 wildcards, just not all chosen by PJ.
Happy happy group of boys at Grand Cheval headquarters. Thanks oiiii

Having top ten films overall plus wildcards actually seems fairer to me than the city winners automatically going through. But I think a bit more transparency around the judging process would be appreciated. Boring flow chart could be a good idea for next year?

Congrats everyone!
Auckland seems to be cleaning up this year! But I agree with the new style of judging - it's clearly possible for the winning team from one centre to have a film which isn't as good as a non-winning team from another. Makes sense to me.
And I don't think they should tell us how it's judged. I'm sure the judges don't want to have to sit through film after film which is just trying to hit all the marks they judge on. I like it as it is, personally.
On another note - nominees to be announced "shortly"? "shortly" is an evil word.
2011 - Pancake Pictures "Sammy" (Wellington Finalist and Best Actress)
2010 - Pancake Pictures "Fleet Street" (nominated for Best Use of Line and Best Actress)

2006 - Pancake Pictures "Forbidden Fruit" (Wellington Finalist)
2005 - Pancake Pictures "Quench"

Agreed. And agreed again. The specific ins-and-outs of the process will never be revealed, beyond what we hear every year, which pretty much amounts to "judges are looking for a strong story".
(I would like to know who the judges *were*, though. :) )
I'd just like to say... Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....
And big congrats to the Outwits too.
