I have been sent the password for the online wrap up form, but have registered more than 1 team. (school) So I have two passwords, but dont know which password is for which team? The email doesn't specify a team. Does it matter?

Final Cut Pro Exporting

Hi there!
I'm an editor for this years competition but theres one thing im not too sure about when exporting from Final Cut. It gives me two options. The first one is exporting using Quicktime – which is extremely quick or export using quicktime conversion – which takes longer and I havent noticed a huge difference in quality.

Can someone please explain which option is best and why????

Hi, do we have to print the wrap up form and put it in the envelope?
Also if I have music in my team intro and team label could I credit the artists at the very end together with the film's credits?

Just a query, if we use production music, ie Big bang & Fuzz, do we have to credit the song specifically or a generic thank you? Some clarification would be nice.

Are most USB Sticks FAT32 anyway?

I have put two of my USB sticks in the laptop and checked under disk utility and in the info down the bottom left they say

Mount Point : /Volumes/NO NAME Capacity : 4.06 GB (4,057,960,448 Bytes)
Format : MS-DOS (FAT32) Available : 4.05 GB (4,049,391,616 Bytes)
Owners Enabled : No Used : 639 KB (638,976 Bytes)
Number of Folders : 0 Number of Files : 0

I presume I dont need to erase and then format again to MS-DOS (FAT32) do I?

when i registered my team, it told me to come back and fill out the details later on when i knew it all eg who the actors and editors were etc etc. is this all with the online wrap up form? im not too sure how to get back onto that form and complete it :/ heeeeeeeeeelp for newbies please? :)

Story is King - how to win V48Hours

Story is king. Give an audience a great story that they can belive in and you're home free.
So many of the posts in the forums focus on tech stuff – but if you are new to 48Hours (or not) then remember – story is king.
In that context; here is my take on story:

Write three acts

Act I ? Setup
Show the world of your film. Set up your protagonist.
Apply something to the protagonist that means they can never go back ? something changes.

Act II ? Action
Protagonist reacts to the changing of their world. Then they take control of the changes and head towards the climax.

Act III ? Conclusion
Reality returns and gives the protagonist their ?all is lost? moment, but suddenly an insight and a resolution.

hey guys, my awesome boss is giving away a cool prize this weekend... he's offering the free-of-charge use of Studio 9 for 8 hours between 8am and 6pm: "Currently it is rigged with a green screen floor/grid height curtain (5.5m) and this is 60sqm coverage including floor (1/2 the Studio floor space). We can use blacks instead if the winners prefer this." They are also offering use of the Studio 9 Green Room for a team to use as a base. We can only offer this to one team so we are going to do a draw on Friday night. If – and only if – you think you can make good use of it please email me at dan@danslevin and he'll put you in the draw.

It comes with a lighting tech and everything, this could be a great opportunity to have some fun and add some production value in our rad as work place.

Online Wrap Up Form

I notice this year we have to include a printed copy of the online wrap up form with our entry. Is this essential? Reason I ask is because where we do the editing we will have no access to the printer. (Dont ask!)
Also roughly what time will it be feasible to fill out the online form as we might not have access to the internet at late afternoon early evening. (Dont laugh!)

Rode Microphones

Wondering if anyone can give me some advice on whether its best to use the Rode Video Mic or the Rode Stereo Video Mic.

I understand that the straight video mic is best for vocals and the stereo is better for ambient and surround action. But am wondering if it would be ok to just use the video mic for all recording?

Also could I use the stereo mic for all recording as well or would that make the vocals sound like crap?

Any Rode experts out there! I Know test myself and see the difference, but Im a bit Mutton Jeff when it comes to sound dont know my arse from my elbow!
