Editing in imovie and putting on USB help please

Kia Ora, we edit in imovie using the old G3 and G5 macs. we may not have all the flash gears but we make pretty cool and creative short films with talented editing skills, however needing some serious formats for usb..

Students have always burned edits to dvd and if they want to, compress into quiktime then copy/drag onto a USB so they can show all their friends or email to them, really easy. i have read all the file submission facts info etc of which most of it has totally blown me away into confusion land (sort of). So do i need to follow the: Mac OS X: MD5 Checksum on line? or the (Unofficial) 48HOURS File Tester? which i looked at but i assume that is for encoding in Cs4 etc. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP us on how to / what to do to get the right format for imovie and so we dont get disquailfied. much appreciate it. thank you
PS: this is our first time representing Tauranga Girls' College

Hi guys,

My brother is a great musician but he is in the South Island and I'm in the North... So he can't help out with making new music, so he has given me his drafts folder with permission to pull out any mp3s that he has made and use them in my film.

How do I go about the release forms here?
Does he have to sign for every song I use, they are currently named things like "113 draft 01.mp3"

Or can he just do one for all the draft songs? As I won't know till the last day what songs I'll be using.

And I understand we don't hand in the release forms, we just hold them for future reference?
Can he just hold on to his in Dunedin or does he have to scan it up to me?

And Im assuming there's no release required from the bigbangfuzz songs? just mention in the credits?

Cheers.

Also if we use

Editing questions

Hello I have two editing questions

Last year me and a mate edited our film on two different computers, I did the first half of the film on my pc with Sony Vegas 9, and him the second on his Mac with FCP (not sure what version but he bought it back 2006-7) I saved my half then we chucked it on his computer put them together and saved it. It worked fine but we ran out of time with the mp4 render so we handed it in minidv instead.

We did all of this to share the load a bit more, and will do the same again this year, but we don't have the luxury of handing it in on tape if it goes wrong.

Now my friend sez that he has trouble with mp4s on his computer (Mac) where by some of the shots just turn into a green screen, when he renders it, he has no idea why.

My query with Sony Vegas is some of the export settings, I'm not very technical and cant find the video codec .h264 setting in the render options, and also The variable bit rate setting. In the technical section it...

Hi all,

Does anyone know whether NZ has the same definition of Public Domain music as USA, i.e., a work is considered PD if you have proof of sheet music publication before 1922 (or was it 1921?).

And whether, if you have such proof, the date of death of the composer is still an issue?

And yes, I understand that what is in the Public Domain is the composition/song, not anyone else's performance or recording, but it does free up some excellent songs, including some that are well-known or have been hits at some time or another.

Thanks for any info. I asked APRA a week or two ago, but haven't yet had a reply.
Jenny
